# Search: find your goals, writing and conversation

> Open it from the page picker or with ⌘F, narrow it to Goals, Pages or Donna, and open any result where it came from.

Search is a page that finds your goals, the writing on your pages, your finished work and your conversation with Donna.

## Opening Search

Open the page title, then choose **Search** at the foot of the picker, beside **Settings**. On a phone, the picker opens as a sheet with the same foot. On desktop, `⌘F` / `Ctrl+F` opens Search instead of the browser's find-in-page.

Search takes the place of the page you were on. **Close**, in its title row, or `Escape` takes you back to that page. If Donna's window is open over Search, `Escape` closes the window first.

## With nothing typed

With no words and no filter, Search lists **Recent pages**: the eight most recent days with writing or finished work, each showing that writing and work. Open a day's name for its page.

## Searching

Type two or more letters in **Type to search**. Matching words are highlighted, and results come in three sections:

* **Goals**: goals whose name or words match, as cards.
* **Pages**: writing on your day, week, month, year and goal pages, and the names of finished work. Each result opens the page or day it came from.
* **Donna**: lines from your conversation. Press the date beside one, marked **You** or **Donna**, to open the conversation at that message.

Pages and Donna list the newest first. Each section shows its first few results; **See all** shows the rest of that section.

## Filters

The three filters under the field, **Goals**, **Pages** and **Donna**, limit Search to one kind of result. Press a filter again to clear it. If a filter has no match but another section does, **Search everything** clears the filter.

## Every goal

Choose **Goals** with nothing typed to list every goal: **Active**, then **Parked**, as cards, and **Landed** as one card with a row for each goal, its landing date and its time. When your goals sit in more than one Area, the Areas appear under the filters: choose one to narrow the list, and choose it again to clear it.

Each card shows the goal's recorded time, its Area, when it began, when it landed or was parked, and a day you named if it is still ahead. Below that sit your words (the current line, the words you gave when it ended, or its picture of done) and a square for each day in its recent weeks. An account with no goals yet reads "No goals yet. Tell Donna what you want to work toward."

## What Search reads

Search reads only your own pages, records and conversation. Searching saves nothing, and your search words are not sent to an AI model. If Search fails to load, it says "Search could not load." with **Try again**.
